HAPPY BIRTHDAY, HEX HALL!!

YAY! Now my Book Beh-Beh is OFFICIALLY out there in the world! And I've been hearing from LOTS of people who've bought it, so THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Hope you enjoy it!

So right now, it's 6AM, and I'm lucky enough to have found working wi-fi at the Jackson, MS airport. Woo-hoo!

Yesterday was a CRAZY day! Not only did my Book Beh-Beh come out into the world, but I left on tour! And of course, the day I left just HAD to be one of those rare Southern snow days. Because we as a region FREAK. THE. HECK. OUT when there's snow, there were delayed planes, and canceled flights all over the place in Atlanta. However, there were plenty of things to keep me entertained, like:

*** The security people at the Montgomery airport who got in an argument about my level of attractiveness rated against someone named Christina. It went like this:

Security Guard 1: "She looks like Christina, but prettier."

Security Guard 2: CHRISTINA WAS A VERY PRETTY LADY!

Security Guard 1: I KNOW THAT! I'M JUST SAYING THIS ONE IS PRETTIER!

Security Guard 2: *looks at me for a long time* "Yeah, she is. I miss Christina."

*** Seeing The Mama's IDENTICAL TWIN at the gate in the Atlanta airport. People. It was SO FREAKY. They looked so similar that I literally stopped in my tracks, thinking my mom had somehow gotten to Atlanta to hang out with me. Same hair color/cut, same glasses, same type of outfit, SAME BODY LANGUAGE. It was eerie. I tried to take her picture a few times with my cell phone, but they all came out blurry. Sad day.

***Picking up an amazing new (to me) book at the airport called A RELIABLE WIFE by Robert Goolrick. It is Gothic, and creepy, and somehow literary and "pulpy" all at once. I lurve it.

Anyway, while airport shenanigans were fun, I was VERY ready to get to Mississippi! Thank God for Team Hex! My FABULOUS publicist, Jenn, took such good care of me amid all the weather angst, and I finally made it to Jackson just minutes before my signing at Lemuria Books!

However, the wait was TOTALLY worth it! Lemuria Books is AMAZING. Seriously, if you love books (and who doesn't?) you owe it to yourself to check it out! It's one of those places where you feel like you could spend hours, and not come anywhere close to seeing all they had to offer. Their children's section was especially swoon-worthy, and children's manager Emily is THE BOMB! I had so much fun talking books with her!

A giant poster of my book, filling me with joy.

Amazing Emily, also filling me with joy, wearing a Hexy t-shirt!

Me with the giant poster of my book. Swear I didn't match on purpose!

Tonight, I'll be in Decatur, GA (outside of Atlanta), at Little Shop of Stories at 7PM. Hope to see some of you there!!

Hi Rachel. I just wanted to say how much me and my friends enjoyed your book...i loved it! It was one of the few books that could actually make me laugh out loud (and recieve strange looks from my parents) and make my jaw drop in surprise. I absolutely cant wait for Demonglass. The way you get inside a teenagers mind is so cool. Plus your imagination is exceptional. I'm a total fan :)

We have an independent book store that sounds a lot like that in Austin Tx it's called Book People. Maybe you can come check it out on your tour for the 2nd book :). Your run in with tu madre’s twin reminds me a lot of when I was in high school and my BFF went up to this girl in the lunch line and just started playing with her hair and I walked up behind her and was like “hey girl what are you doing” and she turns around with this oh sh** face and then looks back at the girl (whom she didn’t know at all) still holding her hair...apparently she was my hair doubly, not a good thing for either of us because my hair was mostly a puff ball back then...:( . annnnyway, thanks for the entertaining posts. I <3 your book, can’t wait for the next one.

I drop a comment when I especially enjoy a post on a blog or if I have something to valuable
to contribute to the conversation. Usually it is caused by the passion communicated in the article

I was actually moved enough to leave a leave a responsea response ;-) I actually
do have a few questions for you if you do not mind.

Could it be just me or do some of these responses look like they are left by brain dead people?
:-P And, if you are writing at additional places, I would like to follow you.
